Secondary Education

Secondary education in the UAE typically begins around age 14 and lasts for three years, following the preparatory stage. During this period, students follow a broad national curriculum which includes core subjects such as Arabic, Islamic Studies, English, mathematics, and social sciences.

At the end of secondary school, students sit for comprehensive exams to earn their Secondary School Certificate. Their results in these exams are crucial for determining their next steps. Students can then choose between an academic track, which prepares them for university entrance, or a growing number of vocational and technical tracks offered at specialized colleges. This stage allows Emirati youth to align their education with their personal interests and the nation's economic goals.
